Founded
in 2000, Topaz - for
the Well-Being of Children and Youth is an Israeli registered
non-profit
association that aspires to improve the life quality of children,
youth, their
families and their communities. To achieve this goal, Topaz acts as an
incubator for community-based, socio-educational programs that develop
innovative
approaches to addressing endemic social problems. Topaz offers a unique
framework that enables social entrepreneurs with vision to realize
their dream
in a supportive environment.
In
addition to B’Tzedek, Topaz
provides legal, financial and knowledge infrastructure and support to
several
other initiatives: Muzot, an arts high-school for
children at risk in
Tel Aviv-Yafo; Avante Guard, a holistic youth center in Atlit; The
Israeli
Centre for Philosophy in Education – ‘Philosophy
for Life’, an initiative piloting
work teaching children to engage in thoughtful enquiry as part of life,
and
others at earlier stages of development.
