Price Differences:
Note that LIFE is offering a payment of up to US$1,000
towards the cost of the initial return ticket to and from Israel for participants who secure their
place on LIFE by making the intial downpayment before 31 March, 2010.
Note also that applications officially close on 30 June, 2010. If after that we
are able to accept additional applicants, a significant late fee will
apply to cover the additional costs involved - additional and late
bookings (for example, air fares to India will cost more if booked
late) and additional staff time.
3.
Interview
Once
all the forms are in, we will interview you by phone or skype
within one week. The purpose is to get to know you better and to clarify
aspects of the application that may not be clear to us. You
are also welcome to ask questions.
4. Our Decision and your Affirmation
Our decision-making process is 'rolling' in monthly cycles. During the first week of each month, we will consider the candidacy of
people who have completed all the necessary steps, including the
interview, by the first day of that month. Given that we want up to a
week to set up and conduct the interview, that means that all materials (including recommendations) should be to us by the end of the third week of the month.
After we will notify you whether your
candidacy was accepted, you have two weeks in which to make the down-payment
(see 'Cost'), thereby securing your spot on the program.
5.
Next Steps
If you are on LIFE – Mazal Tov! Then:
- You make the next scheduled payments (see HERE).
- We:
- Send you updates and are available for questions
- Put program participants in touch with each other as the start date nears
- Email with you personally about
your travel plans and other details

Some general comments about the
process
This process is designed to let us get to know you and for
you to know the program and its demands. Our goal is to make a good fit between
people who participate in the program and the program itself. We relate in this
process to the needs of the participants, the agencies they will intern with,
the people and communities they will work with and serve, the community of
other participants they will live with and the interests of future participants
(as represented by the reputation of the program as it grows over time).
It may
turn out that some applicants are not suitable. However, our goal is to find
and accept people who are suitable, not to rank or grade you and not to
give you a hard time.
